When darkness hits

~Piyush Tripathi

When the darkness hits and the path seems bleak
When the hope dies within, and you can’t see
When your heart is a stone, brittle and grey
When you think you bad, that’s all your mind can say
When the Oceans seem to stretch so far and so deep
When you are dying inside, and can’t even sleep
When you lose the fight that you fight with your own
When the things that haunt come back and play their morbid tone

Then I hope you’ll remember that I am here for you
I am for you, like for me you have been too
That the light you held you passed on to me
So let me be your eyes through which you see
That we are friends, with bonds greater than blood
That when you shed a tear, My tears will flow like a flood
I know that the path may seem to bend
But know that I’ll be always there till the end

When we leave our school and those rooms
Those little memories, chalks and balloons
Those corridors and that so big a ground
Leave out nest, leave behind what we had found
When we leave behind the love of our teachers
When we gotta do what they have always preached us
When you think you left behind all of your laughs
When you think that you left behind your colours and crafts
And when these thoughts cloud your mind like a black cloud
Just think of me, shout out my name aloud

Then I hope you’ll remember that I am here for you
I am for you, like for me you have been too
That the light you held you passed on to me
So let me be your eyes through which you see
That we are friends, with bonds greater than blood
That when you shed a tear, My tears will flow like a flood
I know that the path may seem to bend
But know that I’ll be always there till the end

When life just sucks and throws pain at you
You feel like you are stuck in the room
Just take a glance inside your mind,
Look at all the memories you find
Find the one where you made the board,
The one where we sing our songs in hoards
The one when we made those tasty bites
The one where we got together in those desert nights
Remember the one on the train, the songs and the game
Remember when we yelled ‘Offo’ and maybe yell out the same
Think of when we played in the ground,
Remember when Divya ma’am left and we sneaked around,
And maybe these memories would bleed you dry
Make you miss those moments and make you cry
But then you would get up, wipe those years and think
What would A2 do if they saw me in this sadness sink
And you would then laugh at the tales of ‘Hawa’
And you’ll remember the mischief of your ‘Bwa’
You would then be strong again
After all, memories are what keep us sane

And if the darkness Chases you still,

Then I hope you’ll remember that I am here for you
I am for you, like for me you have been too
That the light you held you passed on to me
So let me be your eyes through which you see
That we are friends, with bonds greater than blood
That when you shed a tear, My tears will flow like a flood
I know that the path may seem to bend
But know that I’ll be always there till the end.
